Alki Beach is the quintessential Seattle summer hot spot in West Seattle. On a nice sunny day, people of all ages flock to this beach. Spend the day on the nice sandy beach. Enjoy a nice walk or bike ride along the 2.5 miles of paved sidewalk along the water. Rent a surrey for the whole family to ride. Grab lunch. Get a coffee. Enjoy an ice cream cone. And if you’re up for it, stay for a bonfire.
Parking can be challenging in this area on warm sunny weekends, but worth the hunt!
A great place to bring your dog.
There are public restrooms closer to the beach area.
This is not a beach for swimming; the water is freezing even in August
Walk, bicycle, roller skate or scooter along the several-mile long, nearly straight, paved path along the waterfront for beautiful views . Stroller friendly!
There are shared bikes (JUMP or Lime bikes) to ride along the path. There is a bike shop where you can rent a four-person bike.
There is an observation area (with a totem pole) just before the beach that has amazing views and curbside parking. There is also a mini replica of the Statue of Liberty.
