One of the most popular parks in Seattle, Golden Gardens is a park that has a little bit of everything including wetlands, beaches, hiking trails, picnic tables, and a playground area. Covered picnic areas can be reserved ahead of time while stand alone grills are on a first-come first-serve basis. The park’s bathhouse can also be reserved, right near the playground. If you forget to pack a lunch or snacks, don’t worry, there’s a small food stand right near the playground. You can walk through the boat launch area (which provides great views) for burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, ice cream, and more!
In the summer, this park is packed with people hanging out on the beach, relaxing in hammocks, taking a stroll along the water front, and playing on the playgrounds.
There are plenty of creatures to find: moon snails, starfish, large and small crabs, fish, clams, chiton, limpets, hermit crabs, snails, octopus, eels, anemones, sea cucumbers, sea sponges, and sea slugs.
Do not eat any shellfish from here. It is unsafe due to polluted waters.
The black things scattered by the tide line that look like rubber plungers or tires are actually moon snail egg cases!
