Charming coal mining theme playground

This really unique play area covers a massive 10,000 square feet and features a charming coal mining town theme complete with tons of whimsical details and surprises. The rubberized ground cover is perfect for tumbling and running, and the wide walkways and flat location make it easy for everyone to access. Whether you’re two or twelve years old (or any age in between), you’ll love exploring this enchanting play area. Be sure to keep an eye out for the giant blue heron near the entrance – it’s a playful nod to the park’s heron rookery and even sprays water in the warmer months!

What can I play on at the Lake Sammamish playground?

The Lake Sammamish playground boast an exciting range of climbing features that will keep kids entertained for hours. The 17-foot tall geodesic climbing dome is perfect for those who love a challenge, while the small and medium-sized slides are perfect for younger kids. There’s also a netted carousel and bright interactive displays for curious minds to learn about mushroom types or hear animal sounds.
That’s not all, they also have swings designed for two, with two mommy-and-me swings where adults can sit and pump while facing their tiny tots. Along with an accessible saucer-style swing that kids love to pile into.
To amp up the fun, the zip line is great for kids and parents alike! Start on a raised platform, zoom over the “stream”, and use the dock bridge in the middle for a safe departure. Come and enjoy a day at the Lake Sammamish playground!

Summer at Lake Sammamish State Park

Are you excited for your trip to Lake Sammamish State Park! This beautiful destination becomes even more popular during the hot summer months, so just be prepared for a bit of a wait to get into the state park on busy days. No need to panic though, just make sure to plan ahead and arrive early to guarantee yourself a great spot on the beach. The good news is that the parking lots are huge, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a spot. Enjoy your day at the lake! Sunset Beach is our family favorite, however, Tibbetts beach also has its own charm!

Lake Sammamish Sunset Beach

Welcome to Sunset Beach at Lake Sammamish! Here, you’ll find a ton of picnic tables and plenty of space to relax near this beach. Just be sure to bring a tent or hat for shade and a comfy chair to sit on if you make it out to the sand, there is little to no shade out there. The water temperature is perfect in mid-August, and the beach itself is stunning all year round. One thing to watch out for is the algae/moss on the ramp leading into the water—it can be seriously slippery! There is a nice and shallow roped off swimming area here, and around noon the cafe opens with basic food and ice cream, which kids love! The sand is a mix of small pebbles and medium rocks along the water, so if you have sensitive feet, swim shoes or water sandals are a good idea. The sand is a little finer as you walk away from the water, perfect for their sand toys!
By the way, if you have a paddle board, this is one of the most popular areas to float in the summer. You can see them from i90! During the summer, it’s a popular spot for families to enjoy the beautiful beach. And in the fall, winter, and early spring, it’s the perfect spot for a quiet, peaceful walk or birdwatching. So come on over, relax, and have some fun in the sun!
