The University of Washington Quad is the best place to see the cherry blossoms in bloom every spring. Soak in the sights and take advantage of the stunning photo op. You can also find the cherry blossoms along San Juan Road on the South Campus and close to Red Square near Gerberding Hall.
Keep tabs on when the bloom via Twitter. When the time comes, be ready for crowds and limited parking spots.
The cherry blossoms bloom from late March through early April, but can bloom as early February, depending on the weather. This only happens once a year for two weeks. If the weather is dry, the cherry blossoms may last for at least three weeks. If it is rainy, the blossoms will be gone after two weeks.
Early in the morning or late at night is much less crowded.
You need to pay for parking during the day, however, after 9:00 pm parking is free on campus. On weekends parking is free after 12 noon on Saturdays and all day on Sundays.
Parking is tough to find when the blossoms are in full bloom. We like the Burke Museum parking lot the best.
Be patient and flexible with your photo ops as there is always a crowd
