This October 7th & 8th, 2023, Issaquah invites you to the 54th Annual Salmon Days Festival, a spectacular celebration of the salmon’s return. Welcoming thousands of guests annually, this festival boasts over 300 artisans, 40 food vendors, exciting Dock Dogs competitions, live music, and a beer and wine garden for the adults. It’s a kid-friendly extravaganza with plenty of activities for the little ones, including hatchery tours, fun runs, sidewalk chalk contests, and a colorful parade. When is the Salmon Season?
The peak of salmon season at the Issaquah Hatchery occurs in September and October, drawing over 20,000 adult Chinook salmon back to their birthplace. The best time to experience the awe-inspiring sight of salmon swimming upstream is from late September to early October, during the salmon run — the year’s prime viewing window.
On-site volunteers are available at the viewing windows to provide information and answer any questions about the salmon. Additionally, with a small donation, visitors get the chance to feed the juvenile salmon in the pools, allowing for a direct interaction with the hatchery’s residents.

Is There Parking?
There are two parking lots at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. The primary parking lot can be found at the second entrance on Sunset Way as you head West. Should this lot be full, overflow parking is readily available at the first entrance. During the bustling September-October season, if parking still seems elusive, there’s additional space in a parking structure located across the street, adjacent to the library on Sunset Way.
